What’s in it for 2008?

The fashion industry is really full of irony. The more the years go forward, the more fashion trends go backward. Simply put, the trends of 2008 goes back to the fifties. Think of slim skirts, wide belts, fitted jackets, wrap dresses, and shaped t-shirts. The dominant colors are grey, black, and white, though next year, yellow will take the scene. Metallic accessories like large gold earrings and necklaces are also in. Oversized bags are not yet out of style. Wooden or plastic jewels are also the trend for this year. Stars and stripes also form the motif of this year’s ensembles. Since it’s a recurring trend, it’s likely to be replaced by other prints (but not moon, heaven forbid!)

For heels lovers, we’ve got good news for you! Stilettos and chunky heels are back, and are now dominating the runway. While stilettos are sexy, chunky heels provide more comfort when walking. Stilletos are elegant and sexy to look at, yes, but they don’t give much support to your feet. On the other hand, tapered heels (those which start thick at the top, then go pointed to the heels) also spice up 2008’s apparels.
